As I wrote a few years ago in my book “On Bouddha’s head”, the eyes of young Iranians lit up when I told them that I had spent several days in Iran in 1972, and they would say to me without batting an eyelid: “Ah, those days! That was the golden age.” ” I had to admit that in the 1970s, I was a fervent opponent of the Shah of Iran.
I hope they have forgiven me and that the Shah’s son will succeed in rallying all those who are fighting for a free and democratic Iran.
